Many talented teams and athletes gathered at the Pine Knolls Country Club Course to compete in the Knoxville Panther Cross Country Invitational.
The meet was held on a day the temperature was low 80s and very humid. Storms were approaching the area from the south and the west, but never became a factor during the middle school or 5K varsity races.
Norwalk won the varsity 5K boys’ title with 27 point and Pella was runner-up with 62.
The Panthers were 9th overall with 230 points.
Showing the way for Coach Michael Splavec’s team was Jordan Bacon in 30th place.
The Panther JV team was 4th with 124 points. The JV leaders were Peter Picard 11th at 20:39, Max Purvis 13th at 20:47, Trent Walraven 21st at 21:155, Andrew Jackson 36th at 22:07 and Emmett Schmidt 43rd at 22:24.
Ethan Morgan was 54th for the JV at 23:29 and Gable Garcia 56th at 23:37.
