Knoxville bowling coach Shaun Renard returns a veteran squad for the 2019-2020 season.
The Knoxville Panther Bowling team has 27 members. Of the 27 bowlers, 7 are returning starters for the boys team. The list includes seniors Andy Funk, Blaise Hubler, Brady Vander Hart, and Keagan McCarty. The junior letterman is Kyler Reidel, while sophomore Robert Sloan and Jaxson Willis are the other veterans on the team.
The girls squad also has seven returning starters. The list includes seniors Lily Cieslak, Charlie Vermeer, Madelynn Liston, Andrea Torres and Hayden Wadle. Junior Saphyre McCombs and sophomore Lilliana Mejia are also letter winners.
Renard said, “We are fortunate enough this season to have the majority of our starting lineup returning to the team. We were also fortunate to have the majority of the team back from last year with the addition of several freshmen that have been bowling in junior leagues prior to their freshmen year.”
The Panther coach stated, “The best part of bowling is that even the biggest underdog has just as strong of a chance to win as the most favored team. We have a small conference that is fun to compete against and any one of them could have a better day than us and pull off the win.”
Two starers from a year ago have graduated, Katelyn Szlachetka and Coledon Vroegh.
A year ago, the Panthers fell just shy of state falling to Bondurant-Farrar.
Assisting Renard with the team is Craig Mobley.
