The Centerville Big Red came to Knoxville and swept the Panthers in a varsity doubleheader Monday, June 17.

Centerville won the opener over the Panthers 10-0 in five-innings. Game two was closer but the visitors won that one as well, 5-1.

For Knoxville the Panthers were silent most of the evening. In the 10-0 defeat in the opener the Panthers had two hits, singles by Colton Jones and RJ Roberts.

In the nightcap the Big Red scored single runs in five separate innings for the 5-1 victory. Knoxville again was held in check to only four hits.

Mike Hudson took the pitching loss in game one. He worked four innings and allowed nine hits and seven earned runs.

Carter Bailey pitched well in the nightcap, giving up eight hits in seven innings and allowing three earned runs. Bailey struck out seven and walked one.

The lone Panther run of the night was a double off the bat of Hudson to score Jones, who reached with a bunt single in the fifth.

The twin losses put the Panthers at 4-18 overall and at 3-9 in the South Central Conference.

Centerville, ranked 10th in Class 3A, improved to 13-1 with the victory and to 12-0 in the SCC.
