Twin Cedars finished 6th at the PCM (Monroe) Cross Country Invitational Thursday, Sept. 26.

The meet was held at the Gateway Golf Course in Monroe.

Des Moines Roosevelt was the varsity girls’ team champion with 28 points followed by Davis County and Panorama, with identical scores of 91. The Mustangs were given second on the basis of the tie-breaker.

The Twin Cedars Sabers were 6th with 157 points followed by Knoxville in 7th with 165.

A total of 10 teams were in action at the meet.

The first three runners in the varsity race were all freshmen. The winner of the 5K was Arianna Jackson of Des Moines Roosevelt with a time of 19:52.

Knoxville’s Norah Pearson was runner-up with a time of 20:10 and Twin Cedars’ Rylee Dunkin third at 20:23.

In addition to Dunkin the Sabers counted scores of 23rd by Kisha Reed, 24th by Cheyanne Bruns, 46th by Grace Bailey and Brooke Roby in 61st.

Reed was timed at 23:25, Bruns 23:26, Bailey ran 25:55 and Roby finished in 28 minutes flat.

Saber Coach Trent Verwers stated, “It was a tough course and we faced some good competition. It felt like we took a step back as a team tonight. It’s a long season, we are bound to have some bad days. We’ll bounce back.”

TC is slated to run again today (Thursday) at the Chariton Invitational.
