Earlham and Pleasantville earned a split on the softball diamond June 17. The Trojans playing at home lost the opener in the WCAC contest 6-3 before bouncing back to shut out the Cardinals 9-0.
Pleasantville stranded 11 runners on base in the opener as they struggled to get the key hit to score. In addition the defense was rather shoddy with four errors in game one.
Abby DeJoode took the loss striking out 11 while walking two. Earlham put together seven hits while winning pitcher Madeline Jansen struck out six Trojan hitters and walked three.
In the nightcap it was a Pleasantville team determined to leave the diamond with at least a split.
Bridgette McKinney and DeJoode went back-to-back with home runs in game two followed by Makenzie McGriff with a round tripper of her own for a quick 70 Trojan lead.
Bridgette McKinney had three hits and Josie Sowers was 4-for-4 in the contest.
Faith Vander Hart took the win throwing a 4 hitter while striking out three and walking one.
