A 3-0 win at home Friday, June 7, moved the Knoxville Panther softball team ahead of the .500 mark for the year.
The win over the Davis County Mustangs put the Panthers at 6-5 overall and put them at 4-2 in the South Central Conference.
Knoxville scored two runs in the bottom of the third as Emma Dunkin and Maddy Findley each had RBI singles. Dunkin’s hit scored Emery Neer, who reached on a fielder’s choice and the hit by Findley brought Dunkin in for a run.
The final run of the game crossed the plate in the fourth when Anna Sanderson reached with a single. Courtesy runner Melanie Sullivan scored on a single by Charlie Ver Meer.
Reilly Finarty threw a three-hit shutout at the Mustangs. She struck out five and walked just two in picking up the seven-inning win.
The losing pitcher for the Mustangs was Madeline Barker, who gave up eight hits. DC fell to 1-4 in the SCC with the setback.
