Coach Doug Hatch’s Knoxville Panther wrestling team split a pair of dual meets Jan. 16 in Eddyville against Davis County and Centerville.

The Panthers beat the Davis County Mustangs 48-30 but fell to the Centerville Big Red 45-30

Davis County

Picking up varsity wins for the Panthers against the Mustangs were eight wrestlers, seven with pins and one with a forfeit issued to him.

KHS pins were gathered in by Marco Alejo (106) in 6:00, Gabe Gordon (126) in 57 seconds, JJ Beaver (138) in 53 seconds and Koby Gordon (145) in 2:50.

Austin Koons (160) picked up a forfeit. Nash Linsley (170) won with a fall in 48 seconds, Wyatt Darnell (195) with a pin in 5:17, Jared Landsperger (220) with a fall in 3:59.

Luke Spaur (120) dropped a narrow 7-3 verdict to Taylor Huggins.

Hayden Hatch (132) also dropped a narrow decision to Marcus Elam 11-8.


Against the Big Red of Centerville, the Panthers picked up five more pins.

Alejo, Spaur, Linsley, Gavin Montalvo (170) and Darnell all won with falls.

The quickest of the pins was by Montalvo, a freshman in 52 seconds.

Other first period falls were gathered in by Spaur and Linsley.

Knoxville gave up a forfeit at 285 pounds and each team gave up forfeits at 106, for a double forfeit.

Jared Landsperger dropped a hard fought 7-6 decision in overtime to Cruise Flanders at 220 pounds.
