The Knoxville Panther Middle School Cross Country boys’ team was second to Davis County. The Mustangs won the league title in Osceola Oct. 15 with 28 points. The Panthers totaled 53 points overall.

Showing the way for Coach Jamie Vander Veer’s team were Henry Picard in 6th place and Ezra Schmidt in 7th.

Picard ran 12:54 and Schmidt was clocked at 12:58 in the race.

Rounding out the team scoring were Jensen Finnegan 11th at 13:42, Ethan Russell 14th at 14;08 and Joe Finnegan 15th at 14:12.

The next two Panthers who finished but didn’t count in the team total were Jason Vinsick 19th and Dallas Brandon 20th.

Girls

The Knoxville Middle School Girls squad was 4th overall with 94 points. Winning the girls’ division was Albia with 18 points.

Knoxville was paced by Olivia Bacon in 6th at 14:15 and Ella Rankin in 16th at 15:21.

Next to finish for KMS were Janie Maasdam 17th at 15:26, Angelina Strukova 26th at 16:34 and Jada Goemaat 29th at 17:03.

The next to finish for Knoxville, but not counting in the team total were Sadie Taft in 30th at 17:05 and Marley Larson 31st at 17:50.
