Melcher-Dallas runners were the local stars at the Pleasantville Cross Country Invite held Sept. 16.
J’Lyn Knutson was second in the varsity girls’ race while Emery Sage was runner-up in the 5k boys’ event.
Sage ran 16;49 to take second for the Saints, who competed in the event with only three boys. Along with Sage were Tyler Hartman in 51st and Chase Ripperger 75th overall.
The Pleasantville boys were 8th with 190 team points. Their leader was Trenton Major in 5th place at 17:39. Next was Trevor Pulse in 27th at 19:52, Jeremy Colboth 44th at 20:47, Devon Luing 55th and Justin Nickel 59th.
Central Decatur was the boys’ team champion with 51 points with PCM next with 96.
Knutson was second for the M-D girls at 20:02.
The Trojans were sixth with 94 points led by Emmie Kenyon in 10th at 23:13, Hailee McCormick 14th at 23:58 and Ashlyn McConnell 16th at 23:59.
Rounding out the varsity scoring for PHS were Taryn Brent in 22nd and Sophia Mason in 32nd.
PCM was team champion with 47 points.
Lynnville-Sully was runner-up with 67 points.
