The third quarter proved to be the difference between winning and losing when it came to the Twin Cedars Sabers facing the Melcher-Dallas Saints in M-D Friday, Dec. 20.

The Saints held a slim 24-23 advantage at halftime.

M-D out scored the Sabers 17 to 11 in the third quarter to open a lead of 41-34 entering the fourth quarter.

The Saints put a seal on the win to claim a 57-48 triumph over TC.

The loss sends TC into 2020 with an overall mark of 0-7 overall under the direction of head coach Blake McWilliams.

The win was the third in a row for the M-D Saints who finished 2019 at 4-4.

M-D had 15 points from Steven Krpan, 13 by his brother Ryan and 10 from Emery Sage.

Joe Branson chipped in with eight points, Owen Suntken had six and Gabe Enfield five.

TC was led by Hunter McCombs who tallied 19 points in the loss.

Sage led M-D with nine rebounds.

The Saints beat Seymour 81-61 and Diagonal 61-43 earlier in the week. Sage had 22 against Seymour.
