It has been a rough start out of the gate for the Melcher-Dallas Saints, who stood at 1-4 starting the last week of play in 2019.

Melcher-Dallas is off to a 1-4 start for the season.

The lone win to date was a 73-59 win at home Dec. 12 over the S.E. Warren Warhawks.

The early season setbacks for Coach Jim Wells’ squad have been to Pleasantville, Ankeny Christian, Lamoni and Cardinal.

Lamoni beat the Saints 74-51 Dec. 10 in Lamoni.

The Saints had 15 points each from Ryan Krpan and Joe Branson. Steven Krpan popped in 11 points for M-D.

The rest of the scoring showed Emery Sage and Gabe Enfield each with four points and Jacob Russell with two.

Steven Krpan was the board leader with nine, while Ryan Krpan showed the way with five assists and seven steals.

The Lamoni Demons held quarter leads of 23-18, 45-33 and 57-42 en route to the 23 point win.

The latest loss for the Saints was a 75-38 setback to Cardinal on the road Saturday in Eldon.

The victory moved Cardinal to 2-4 on the year overall.
