Pitcher Emilie Krpan was sharp, the defense was solid and the Melcher-Dallas Saints’ bats were blazing in a 10-0 5-inning Regional win over Moravia at home July 10.
Krpan allowed just two hits in the five inning contest. Only four runners reached base and nobody made it as far as third for the Mohawks.
Both of the Moravia hits came in the first inning. Krpan had seven strikeouts in the game.
M-D countered with two runs in the first, five in the second, two in the fourth and one in the fifth for the quick exit out of the ballpark.
The win raised the M-D record to 26-5 overall, which ties the school record for wins in a season with the 2009 squad.
The Saints had 10 hits in the contest. Angel Beaty and DoraMae Bennett were the only M-D players with two hits. One of Bennett’s hits was a double.
Haley Godfrey and BrieAnna Remster each had two hits for the Saints.
Odds and Ends
The Saints were 14-3 in the Bluegrass Conference which tied them for second in the league with Murray.
Earlier this year the Saints beat Moravia by one run twice. The other game was a 10-run win by the Saints along with this lopsided win.
M-D Coach Jim Crozier stated, “Emilie did a great job. Angel hit the ball well and Godfrey continues to play well at third.”
