The Melcher-Dallas Saints have put it together to win their first two matches of the season in volleyball.

The Saints opened under the direction of head coach Jesyka Nolte to beat Orient-Macksburg 25-16, 25-14, 20-25, 25-20.

Leaders for the Saints in the four-set victory on the road over the Bulldogs were Kynser Reed and Haley Godfrey for kills with six each while Kacey Enfield and Grace Overgaard each delivered five.

Riley Enfield ran the offense as the setter and she totaled 16 assists.

On the defensive end of the court, Kacey Enfield had 12 digs and Reed finished with 10.

Kacey Enfield had six ace serves, Riley Enfield four and Reed three.

Up next was a thriller in the home opener over Mormon Trail. The M-D Saints were victorious 25-23, 21-25, 25-10, 14-25, 15-2.

Coach Nolte stated, “We let up during key times and MT took 2 games from us. We lacked communication and defense at times. But we turned things around and did a great job serving and hitting.”

Godfrey was the hitting star with 19 kills followed by Reed and Kacey Enfield with five each.

R. Enfield had 18 assists and Lilly Bennett totaled six.

R. Enfield was also the serving leader going 26-of-28 at the line with three aces. Bennett was 12-of-15 with two aces.

Emma Heaberlin topped the M-D charts with 12 digs while R. Enfield added 10.

The Saints will face the Murray Mustangs on the road Tuesday, Sept. 17 in league play.
