Murray displayed a deep and talented bench to go with a strong starting cast.

That spelled bad news for the Melcher-Dallas Saints as the Mustangs ran past M-D 87-49 in Bluegrass Conference play Jan. 6 in Melcher-Dallas.

The Krpan brothers came out strong for M-D in the opening quarter combining for 11 of M-D’s first 13 points, but the Mustangs had already gathered a hefty 25-13 lead at the end of the quarter.

The halftime bulge was 48-26 for the Mustangs and they went on from there to reach a 35-point lead to put the running clock into motion in the fourth.

Ryan Krpan had 15 points for the Saints. Steven Krpan, quarterback on the football team, calmly added 10 points.

Gabe Enfield totaled nine, Owen Suntken tossed in eight and Joe Branson seven for M-D.

Four Murray players hit double digits led by guard Reece Held with 17. Jace Rodecker added 15 points, Colton Siefkas 13 and Rilee Werner 12.

The loss put the M-D mark at 4-5 overall.

Murray improved to 6-2 with the win.
