Pleasantville varsity volleyball coach Joel Allman is starting his second season at the helm.
The Trojans turned in a mark of 4-19 a year ago during their initial season in the West Central Athletic Conference (WCAC).
Five letter winners are back to lead the charge in 2019. Senior Sam Entinger led the PHS squad in kills in 2018.
Junior Bre Benge was the leader in digs and aces while sophomore Adi Adreon was the leader in assists.
Makenzie McGriff and Noa Sample, two seniors, also picked up varsity letters.
“The strength of our team is returning key people from last year. Having our best hitter, libero, and setter back is very important in volleyball. I believe we have some good varsity experience on our roster,” Allman stated.
Two players who Allman is counting on this year to help the squad are junior Amber McKinney as an outside hitter and Emillee Smith as a middle hitter.
Des Moines Christian and Woodward Granger are teams Allman pegs as the league favorites, with ACGC being solid. Allman hopes the Trojans can finish top half of the WCAC.
“I expect our team to be much improved,” the coach said.
