After making a road trip to Nevada to knock off the Cubs 5-1 July 1, the Knoxville Panthers faced Class 4A, No. 3 ranked ADM (Adel-Desoto-Minburn) at home the very next night.
It was a tall task, but the Panthers proved to be up to the task as they took the Tigers to extra innings before falling 5-4.
Knoxville scored three runs in the third inning and never trailed as they bumped off the Cubs 5-1.
Ashlyn Finarty was the winning pitcher as she worked all seven innings allowing five hits and one earned run.
Knoxville backed their pitcher with a stellar 14-hit offensive attack. Finarty and Melanie Sullivan each had three hits for the Panthers while Emery Neer and Cheyenne Tille each added two.
Alex Griggs had just one hit, but it was a double that drove in two runs. Ashlyn Finarty also plated two RBI in the game.
The Tigers grabbed a quick 3-0 lead before the Panthers mounted a comeback.
After scoring a run in the third, Maddy Findley blasted a three-run home run to give the Panthers a 4-3 advantage at the end of five.
The Tigers tied the game with a run in the sixth and eventually won with a run in the 8th.
Sullivan and Griggs each had two hits for Knoxville in the loss.
Finarty took the pitching loss as she gave up nine hits and five runs, of which only two were earned. She fanned three and walked five in the game.
