Knoxville will host a Class 3A and a 4A regional girls basketball action Wednesday, Feb. 19.

Knoxville has been selected to host a Class 3A and a Class 4A girls’ basketball Regional doubleheader Wednesday, Feb. 19.

The Knoxville Panthers (19-2) will host Des Moines Hoover (3-17) Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in a first round contest.

Preceding the Panther game will be a 3A affair starting at 6 p.m. in Region 7. The teams will be the winners of Saturday contests between Centerville (15-6) and Chariton (7-12) and the winner of another Saturday matchup between Des Moines Christian (19-2) and Saydel (0-21).

Tourney Games

Other Regional girls’ basketball playoff action has Pella Christian (2-18) facing Colfax-Mingo (7-14) Saturday in Colfax starting at 5 p.m. in a Class 2A contest.

Pleasantville (8-13) has a first round bye in Class 2A Region 7. They will face the winner of the Pella Christian and Colfax-Mingo game Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.

Melcher-Dallas lost in a Class 1A first round contest Thursday to Grand View Christian 69-38.

The Twin Cedars Sabers (5-17) game set for Thursday was moved to tonight (Friday) due to the weather. The Sabers travel to Lynnville-Sully o face the Hawks (13-6) at 7 p.m. in Class 1A Region 6 action.

Pella (11-9) will play host to Oskaloosa (1-18) in Class 4A play Feb. 19 at 7 p.m.
