After dropping the first two matches of the year, the Twin Cedars Sabers have claimed a pair of wins in a row.

TC tripped up the Diagonal Maroons and Seymour on back-to-back nights on the road Sept. 9 and 10.

Diagonal

Diagonal was opening the season with the match against the Sabers. TC claimed the win 25-4, 25-18, 25-19.

Ali Mockenhaupt was the defensive leader for TC with 15 digs followed by Kaya Des Planque and Rylee Dunkin each with seven.

Chloe Swank had six kills and Haley Hoch four to lead the offense.

Brooke Roby and Dunkin split the setting duties. Roby had seven assists and Dunkin five.

Dunkin was 23-of-23 serving with four aces. Mockenhaupt had five aces, Chloe Durian and Roby each delivered three.

Seymour

The Sabers outlasted Seymour to claim a narrow 25-18, 25-23, 12-25, 26-24 win on the road.

The statistic that really stands out is Mockenhaupt with 38 digs followed by Des Planque with 13 and Dunkin with 10.

Brooke was the hitting leader with six kills and Swank contributed five.

Dunkin and Roby each had five assists.

Dunkin topped the Saber charts with four aces while Des Planque and Haley Hoch each had two.

Odds and Ends

TC lost to Moravia Sept. 12, 3-0 and then at the TC Tournament Saturday the Sabers lost matches to Ankeny Centennial 2-0, Murray 2-1 and Pleasantville 2-0.
