Kaya DesPlanque prepares to serve a winner for the Twin Cedars varsity volleyball squad.

The Twin Cedars Sabers were stretched to the limit Monday, Sept. 16, as they knocked off the Moulton-Udell Eagles 25-21, 17-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-9 in a match that had more momentum switches than most.

In the end the Sabers had a whopping 62 digs by sophomore Ali Mockenhaupt to spearhead the defense.

Rylee Dunkin added 20 digs, Kaya DesPlanque 16 and Haley Hoch and Brooke Roby each collected nine.

Roby was the offensive star of the night with nine kills along with Chloe Swank. Chloe Durian picked up six kills.

Dunkin and Roby split the setting duties. Dunkin was credited with 15 assists and Roby had 11.

Roby and Des Planque each had three ace serves.

The win raised the TC Saber mark to 3-6 overall. A year ago the Sabers finished at 3-18 for the season.

The Sabers are coached by Randie Gist.

The Sabers will be at home Thursday, Sept. 26 to face the M-U Eagles again at 5:30 p.m.
