Letterwinners on the 2019 Melcher-Dallas Saints varsity volleyball team from the year before that showed the way this past season include in the front from the left, Karlee Lovell, Lilly Bennett, Kacey Enfield and Riley Enfield. Melcher-Dallas wrapped up a successful 2019 varsity volleyball season with a first round Class 1A Regional loss to the S.E. Warren Warhawks.

The loss on Oct. 22, ended the Saints season under the direction of head coach Jesyka Nolte, with a mark of 14-8 overall.

The Warhawks won the match 25-20, 25-16, 25-15 in Liberty Center.

It was the second loss of the year for M-D to the Warhawks. The previous meeting was back on Oct. 7 in a 3-1 setback.

Makayla Ruble led S.E. Warren with 12 kills and Josie Hartman followed with seven.

Each team had five ace serves in the contest. M-D had three of the aces by Riley Enfield.

The M-D hitting attack was spearheaded by Grace Overgaard with six kills and Kacey Enfield with two.

R. Enfield had 10 assists in the loss.

Dig leaders for the Saints were K. Enfield with seven, Kynser Reed five, R. Enfield and Karlee Lovell each added four.

Coach Nolte got 10 players into the contest. The only senior in the group was Lilly Bennett.

Odds and Ends

Considering the past three years the Saints made some drastic improvement on the court.

In 2018 the Saints won nine matches while dropping 14. The 2017 M-D squad claimed a victory four times while losing 14. The 2016 Saints failed to win a match going 0-21 overall.
