The Melcher-Dallas Saints struggled to put it all together a year ago as it indicates from their record of 3-16 overall.

First-year head coach Kelsey Goff is back for year two and she has six letter winners, to help guide the ship during the 2019-20 season.

The veterans include Kynser Reed, Riley Enfield, Kacey Enfield and Haley Godfrey, four junior starters from last year.

Also included in the mix are lettermen Lilly Bennett and Grace Overgaard. Bennett is a senior and Overgaard a junior.

Reed led the Saints in scoring average a year ago, R. Enfield was the steal leader and Overgaard at 5’8” was the top rebounder.

Reed hit for 11.5 points last winter and Kacey Enfield was next on the list with 5.2 points per game.

M-D struggled scoring as they only scored 42 points or more three times.

The strength of the team, “I have a senior and a great group of juniors who have had lots of experience playing at the varsity level. They have been playing together for years and play many other sports together, so they know each other. I have younger girls who are going to push the upper-classman and the starters to work hard during practices to make them better.”

The weakness is shooting, according to Goff. “We need to work on patience to reduce the number of turnovers.”

Goff feels, a couple of young players may get some time on the court, Angel Beaty and Destinie Swank.

Goff replied, “Twin Cedars is my top team to beat in the conference since they are a rival.”

Goff added she is expecting a winning season from the Saints.
