Anna Sanderson, Knoxville senior, will be attending college at Southeastern Community College in Burlington and play soccer for the Blackhawks.
Sanderson has kept a busy slate playing sports in high school. She has picked up varsity letters in the following sports at Knoxville: tennis, soccer, shooting club, softball, basketball and volleyball.
“My favorite sport used to be softball, but now it’s soccer, partly because of the head coach. I like the idea of working hard and improving along the way,” Sanderson said.
She plays center back on the soccer squad. It’s a defensive position on the team and she has responsibility on the field to help the outside defenders.
Sanderson said she looked at a few other schools, but when it came time to pick a school it was Southeastern all the way.
“My college coach knew everybody it seemed like and the school has some nice new facilities,” she replied.
She plans on majoring in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice.
“I’d like to become either a counselor or a social worker, after I graduate,” she said.
Anna Sanderson’s favorite teachers at Knoxville are Paige Bolton and Matt Heston.
Heston teaches a College Stats course and Bolton has Family Consumer Science.
Anna is the daughter of Laura and Matthew Sanderson.
Laura commented, “I’m impressed with the college and he coach. It’s a beautiful campus. A lot of schools she looked at wanted her for softball. I’m excited for what the future holds for her.”
Anna Sanderson added, “I’d like to thank my soccer coaches and teammates for helping me get better on the field.”
