A solid and convincing 13-1 win at home Friday, June 28 enabled the Twin Cedars Sabers to put a wrap on an undefeated Bluegrass Conference Softball season.

The Sabers routed the Lamoni Demons Friday to finish 18-0 in league play en route to the league championship.

It came on Senior Night when the lone veteran on the team, Ainsley Dunkin was honored.

TC wasted little time in topping the Demons. A five-run first followed by three runs in the second and five in the fourth made for an early exit home for the Sabers.

Ali Mockenhaupt was the winning pitcher for TC as she worked all four innings. She gave up four hits and struck out four.

TC pounded out 13 hits in the game two each by Rylee Dunkin, Brooke Roby, Caitlyn Reed and Chloe Swank, while Mockenhaupt led the way with three hits.

Caitlyn Reed was the RBI leader for TC with three.

The victory moved the Sabers to 25-3 overall.

TC traveled to Moulton last Thursday and beat the Eagles 18-0 in three innings.

Grace Bailey earned the pitching win going one inning. Jenna Hastings and Mockenhaupt also pitched one inning each for TC.

The Eagles finished the night with two hits, but it didn’t compare to the 10 the Sabers had.

Roby was the hitting star, going 3-for-3 with three RBI.

Bailey and Jetta Sterner also had two hits for TC.

The Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Rockets ended the TC Saber win streak that had reached 12 straight.

The Rockets won the non-conference affair 12-6 June 26 in Eddyville.

Bailey took the loss in the circle for TC as she was nicked for 13 hits and seven earned runs in five innings.

TC collected seven hits in the contest, two each by Dunkin and Roby. Roby had two of the four TC RBI for the night.
