After finishing the 2018 season at 13-14 overall, the Twin Cedars Sabers appear to be on the verge of turning it around in 2019.

TC is off to a rather quick start, 5-0 to be exact, with a very young squad.

Coach Zack Dunkin’s Sabers opened with a 2-1 win over S.E. Warren on the road May 22. Brooke Roby had two of the six Saber hits, one being a double and she drove in two runs.

Grace Bailey earned the pitching win working seven innings scattering six hits, fanning seven and walking two.

Melcher-Dallas

TC moved to 2-0 with a victory over the Melcher-Dallas Saints 6-2 May 23 at home.

M-D led 2-0 as Haley Godfrey singled home DoraMae Bennett.

TC tallied five runs in the fifth for the win.

Rylee Dunkin had two hits. TC RBI belonged to Dunkin, Bailey, Ali Mockenhaupt and Chloe Swank.

Bailey out dueled M-D’s Emilie Krpan for the win.

Orient-Macksburg

Next was an 8-0 decision over Orient-Macksburg May 24.

Mockenhaupt was the winning pitcher twirling a two-hit shutout.

TC had multiple hits from Roby, Bailey and Swank. Roby and Bailey each hit a pair of doubles.

W. Central Valley

The Sabers beat West Central Valley 10-0 with Bailey working all five innings. They also beat S.E. Warren 4-2 at the S.E. Warren Triangular Saturday. Mockenhaupt got the victory against the Warhawks.

Dunkin and Roby each had two hits and Caitlyn Reed pounded out three hits against S.E. Warren.
