The Twin Cedars Sabers were 6-4 overall after dropping a game to the Moulton-Udell Eagles Thursday, June 6 in Bluegrass Conference baseball action at home.
TC trailed 8-2 before rallying with a three-spot in the seventh but it wasn’t enough.
Taking the loss on the mound for Coach Mark Schroeder’s TC squad was Daniel Beary, who worked 3.1 innings allowing five runs on five hits. Only one of the runs was earned.
Kade Dunkin, Beary, Hunter McCombs and Nathan Smith each had two hits in the setback for TC.
Both of the hits by Smith were doubles as he and McCombs each had two RBI.
TC beat the Murray Mustangs at home 6-1 behind the one-hit pitching performance of Dunkin. The sophomore fanned six and walked one in earning the win on the hill.
TC collected eight hits to back their pitcher. Two hits each for TC were obtained from the bats of Brock DenBurger and Daniel Beary.
Dunkin had two RBI as he hit a double for the Sabers.
The Sabers held a 7-4 lead over Ankeny Christian in varsity action June 4 in Des Moines at Cownie Sports Park.
Ankeny Christian rallied to win the game with four runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Taking the loss on the mound for the Sabers was Zach Peterson in relief of starter Brock DenBurger.
Beary and Smith each had two hits in the loss for TC. Smith had two RBI and Dunkin drove in one.
