For the second time this year the Twin Cedars Sabers managed to score at least 28 points in a football game.
The Sabers put up 28 points Friday but the Baxter Bolts gained the district win over TC 70-28 in 8-Man District play in Baxter.
The Bolts were a perfect 12-of-12 passing for the evening for four touchdowns.
Quarterback Cole Damman was 10-of-10 passing for 237 yards and three scores, Damman also ran for 101 yards on eight attempts, scoring four times with the longest score coming from 25 yards out.
Rory Heer was the top receiver for Baxter with six catches for 155 yards and two scores.
Of Baxter’s top 11 tacklers on their chart, nine of them are underclassman, with the majority being freshmen and sophomores.
The TC Sabers managed to get Dallas Clark back into the lineup. He was 5-of-10 passing for 84 yards and a score.
The touchdown pass of 10 yards went to Kade Dunkin.
TC showed some balance running the ball with Levi Messamaker scoring on a 15-yard dash. He had 67 yards on 11 attempts.
Kade Dunkin added 72 yards rushing on nine carries.
Dallas Clark added a short 3-yard touchdown scamper for the Sabers.
Levi Messamaker scored on a 74-yard kick return to excite the TC fan base.
The top tacklers on Coach Cameron Parker’s TC squad were Dunkin with 13.5 stops, Clark and Landyn Roland with six each.
The Sabers will play host to Gladbrook-Reinbeck Friday at 7 p.m. in District 5 play. The Rebels are 4-2 overall and 4-0 in the district.
