Twin Cedars opened Class 1A District Baseball action against the Seymour Warriors Saturday, July 13 in Moravia.

The game was exciting from start to finish. It was filled with defense and pitching.

The offenses for both teams, for the most part was in hiding.

Brock DenBurger hurled the TC Sabers to a 1-0 win to keep their season alive.

DenBurger didn’t allow a hit in 5.2 innings on the mound. He struck out 12 and walked only three to earn the win.

Kade Dunkin, a sophomore, put out the Seymour chances at victory after that, giving up just one hit and striking out three.

The lone run of the game crossed the plate in the bottom of the fourth. Zach Peterson reached with a double and scored on a ball hit by Dunkin for the RBI.

TC only had two hits in the game one by Peterson and the other a double off the bat of Nathan Smith.

Seymour ended the season at 7-19 overall, they were 0-4 against TC.

The Sabers moved down the tournament trail to face Central Decatur.

Central Decatur

TC knocked off the Cardinals from Central Decatur 8-3 to end the regular season July 10 in Leon.

The Sabers made the most of their eight hits in the game. Dallas Clark had two hits for TC while Peterson, Daniel Beary, Dunkin, Smith and Jace Nichols all added one hit.

Peterson was the winning pitcher as he went six innings giving up three hits and two runs.
