FORT MADISON — Howard Paul Garrison, 66, formerly of Knoxville, was pronounced dead due to natural causes at 9:19 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023 in the medical unit at the Iowa State Penitentiary, where he had been housed due to chronic illness.
Garrison had been serving a life sentence for two counts of first-degree murder from Marion County. His sentence began on Jan. 16, 2004.
